To Create is to Destroy: An Art Motto

Since living in Las Vegas, NV, I’ve slowed down tremendously on the output of my art projects/ pieces and hence also postings on this blog (lol). I guess I can go over the many reasons or excuses for this but I do recall an old mantra I used to say to myself, “To Create is to Destroy.”
Since moving here, I had to leave many aspects of my life behind and attempt to embrace this new quality of life here in Las Vegas (LV). I love California, but I live here now. As an artist in LV, I have to move into the domain of what this city affords me and also break or “destroy,” my former art existence in Humboldt County. My experiences in the past year have already informed how different this place is and my art will be a reflection of this new movement. I actually did complete a piece about two weeks ago, which I will go into more in my next blog post. (in the near future).
This city or town as some call it is full of creative types and other fantastic artists and also a place and time to which to exhibit, First Fridays. So I will shed my old skin and move into this new chapter of my art life.
To create is to destroy friends,
Sheldon

My name is Sheldon Chase and I currently live in Las Vegas, Nevada. This blog is intended to put my artwork on a larger platform (i.e., on the internet) and also a way to connect with other art lovers and other artists as well to collaborate and to generate a dialogue in the creation of art. I paint mainly with acrylics on canvas and have done two styles mainly: Contemporary (abstract artwork) and also portraits. I find both styles intriguing and valuable. I hope you enjoy my site.
