A Painting of Destruction

Since I’m relatively new to Vegas, I find new places to discover all the time. I found this new store which was right around the corner from my favorite record shop, Zia. The place is called 88 Limitd and it specializes in graffiti or “graf,” art products which includes spray paint, markers, etc.  What caught my eye was the full name of the business, “88 Limitd Specialty Art Supply,” and I had to see what was inside.

In my art I’ve used graf supplies like inks, pens, and spray paint to add to the depth of the abstract qualities and style, so I’m accustomed to using these products and I purchased a “Krink,” purple ink marker which attracted my eye. The guys who run the business invited me to throw up my “tag,” with my new marker on their glass wall of which I was honored to do.

I used my new purple Krink marker on my new painting which probably wasn’t by accident. This new painting has a destructive feel to it and with the tags spilling on it only helps to demonstrate the need to (first) destroy. The creation comes next.

Stay tuned.

My name is Sheldon Chase and I currently live in Las Vegas, Nevada. This blog is intended to put my artwork on a larger platform (i.e., on the internet) and also a way to connect with other art lovers and other artists as well to collaborate and to generate a dialogue in the creation of art. I paint mainly with acrylics on canvas and have done two styles mainly: Contemporary (abstract artwork) and also portraits. I find both styles intriguing and valuable. I hope you enjoy my site.
