Art in Unusual Places

During the summer, I had a chance to explore the Cosmopolitan Casino/ Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada for two reasons. The first is for its reputation of exhibiting contemporary art and using its parking structure to display murals. These images are from I believe the 3rd floor of the structure and by the artist/ Graff writer Retna (MSK/AWR). We also saw Deadmau5 that night as well and it was an awesome show.

As you probably can guess, I’m still learning about wordpress and you may notice changes to my posts after I’ve published them.

The top image and the bottom one were supposed to have been together (Oh well), but they were taken outside of Tuba City, AZ.  I’ve been a fan of street art for a while and when I saw these I had to stop and snap them. My sister told me about the artist who are doing them and once I find out, I will let you know. But, more importantly, I like the idea of using “traditional,” images of Navajos and putting them in a context like this. It is highly original.

My name is Sheldon Chase and I currently live in Las Vegas, Nevada. This blog is intended to put my artwork on a larger platform (i.e., on the internet) and also a way to connect with other art lovers and other artists as well to collaborate and to generate a dialogue in the creation of art. I paint mainly with acrylics on canvas and have done two styles mainly: Contemporary (abstract artwork) and also portraits. I find both styles intriguing and valuable. I hope you enjoy my site.
